🏞️ Into the Wilderness of Zanskar

After surviving the icy thrill of Shinkula Pass, our journey led us deeper into the raw heart of Zanskar. There was no network, no city noise — just the sound of wind brushing against our jackets and endless open sky.

The roads faded into dusty, rocky trails. The world stretched silent and vast. We were completely alone — and completely free.

⛺ Setting Up Camp — Our Tent, Our Shelter

By late afternoon, we spotted a flat patch near a slow-moving river. The perfect spot to camp.
With freezing winds biting our fingers, we pitched our tent — it wasn’t easy, but it was ours.

"Tired body. Frozen hands. But a full heart." — I wrote that in my notebook that night.

We boiled water on a camping stove, laid out sleeping bags, and zipped the tent tight — ready for a night under the stars.

✨ A Night Beneath a Billion Stars

As darkness fell, the sky exploded with stars.
There was no light pollution. No mobile towers. Just a bonfire, some laughter, and the hum of distant river water.

We made Maggi noodles, warmed our palms, and stared at the Milky Way. Our bikes stood next to us like silent partners in the adventure.

That moment — so quiet, so vast — it made us forget the rest of the world even existed.

🧠 Real Talks in Real Silence

That night brought a kind of peace you can’t fake. We talked — about life, fear, dreams, and all the things we never say back in the city.

Zanskar has a way of stripping away all the noise. It makes you think about what really matters.

🏍️ Sudeep’s Travel Tip: Wild Camping in the Himalayas

If you’re planning something similar, here’s what I recommend:

  • Carry extra rope and a windproof tent
  • Don’t camp too close to rivers — they rise overnight
  • Bring gloves, thermal layers, and a headlamp
  • Keep some local cash — UPI doesn’t work here
  • Respect the land: Leave no trace, only gratitude

📸

  • Tent setup in the wild
  • Night shot with stars (or long exposure if possible)
  • Bonfire with Maggi
  • Shot with your bikes near the tent
